Track Name: Heart-Shaped Windows
I want to live in a house with heart-shaped windows, so when I look out at the world, all I see is love. I want to sleep in a bed made of kisses, so when I lay down at night, I’ll be covered in love. I want to live in a house with walls painted red, so when I wake up in the morning, I’ll be surrounded by love.
Track Name: Motorcycle
I have tried to walk a mile inside someone, I put on their boots and their sunglasses, been someone’s lover. I drink and think too much about people I’ve passed, on the boardwalks and by the jukebox, I’ve been no stranger. Motorcycle rider in my head, evil eye talisman around his neck, and a sparrow on my window, they tell me all I need to know. Now I look up to the night sky and I see moon dogs, birch trees open arms are there to catch me, I tend to fall.
Track Name: Shadows Rivers Clouds
Shadow, I’m only shadow, I can’t be broke but I get low. Shadow, I’m only shadow, while to the night my darkness grows. Rivers, we’re only rivers, we twist and snake from towns to seas. Rivers, we’re only rivers, we can dry up, drown pain or ease. Drag my body West in the morning, ship my ashes East when you go. Clouds, I’ll be the clouds, I’ll get high and lost in the blues. Clouds, I’ll be the clouds, amidst my tears come rainbow hues.
Track Name: Gypsy In My Soul
I’m just a gypsy in my soul, when to Heaven I will fly, to be gone forever always, and leave no one here for me to cry. The mercenary in my heart, has heard the calling distant bell, to shoot down all the sinner-men, and send every last one to Hell. The troubadour inside my lungs, he has no ears nor has he eyes, for carnival girls from the other side, where mandolins are played by butterflies. I’m just a judge behind my eyes and the guillotine my penalty, to unify us after we die, is to keep some sense of sanity.
Track Name: All Night Messiah
To your town a pony I rode in, heart busted in black boots, a drifter with no roots. You played 12 inch new beat on vinyl, cuts danced in the fire, I’m your all night messiah. And winter lasted long, on an island far from harm, so I wrote you in this song, that no one heard me play. Boozing and honky-tonk gambling, we’re up on the cabinets, clothes aren’t a habit.
Track Name: Time She's A Rambler
Time she’s a rambler, and she’s taking us all for a ride, I want to be with her then leave her then keep her for mine. Can’t live without her, mistreat her and she’ll beguile. So, I’m gonna love her ‘til I fall too far behind. Slow down sweet mama slow down, slow down you’re mith me. You wanna be like Jesus in your heart but you’re out too late after dark. We’ll live like we’re gonna find diamonds under our floor, we’ll drink lots of whiskey and buy us an old beat up Ford. We’ll make down a pallet for the good ones at our door, we’ll love and do right knowing just what our money can’t afford.
Track Name: Heavenly Blues
Lyrics available with original 2010 vinyl LP and digital release, Rolling Dawn.
Track Name: Highway Man Come Home
Lyrics available with original 2013 digital release, Holiday Hearts.
Track Name: Medley: Motorcycle/Thank You For Teaching Me To Love/All Night Messiah
Thank you for teaching me to love — riding horses again. With their silk manes blowing in the breeze like a lover’s hair drifts in the wind, and the dark depth of their eyes and graceful sway in their backs, you showed me with bit and bridle the beast’s strength could become my hands, my legs, my back. Never mine to behold indefinitely — but a fleeting transformation to that of a new creature neither horse nor human, but a passing silhouette and shadow. Thank you for teaching me to love — riding horses again.
